"Let My Children Go"
"Against The Grain" Press is proud to be able
to print information on Reverend Ray E. Moore and his wife Gail, S.C. Parents
of The Year [July 2000]. Ray and Gail, married 33 years with four adult children
and two grandchildren, are among the earliest home-schooling parents in the
country. Ray is a Gulf War veteran and a retired Army Reserve chaplain.
He is also director of the Exodus 2000 project, a nationwide
effort to encourage the removal of Christian children from the public school
system.
Gail Moore teaches 11th-grade English at Heritage Christian
Academy in Lexington, SC.. She was a home-school teacher from 1977 to 1994.
ATG: The above information is only a 'drop in the bucket'
concerning the Moore family. The parents of this highly successful family
say, "We think homeschooling definitely was a strongly positive contributing
factor to success". ......"We think the issue of socialization is
an overstated problem. In fact, we think it's one of the primary reasons to
home school. It takes away peer dependency from the children, which you don't
want them to have. Peer dependency is usually a negative, harmful thing."
.....Mr. Moore believes that homeschooling and private schools are more effective
ways to educate children. He also thinks that nationalized public education
should be eliminated altogether. There is not a constitutional provision for
it, he explains; moreover, the Bible forbids it. "We are told to teach
the ministry of the church, to disciple other nations, but this should apply
to our own families as well." Instead, "we are sending our children
to pagan schools."
Ray Moore has written a most informative, educational book,
Let My Children Go, Why Parents Must Remove Their Children
From Public Schools NOW; with the first sentence stating in the Preface......."This
is a book about hope." This is a MUST read for ALL parents concerned
with their childrens overall development.
