Have Mr.and Ms. Public finally taken their last beating from the nosy State and Federal Government ? Only time will tell if they remember the warnings of the activists and protesters.  Recapping and bringing up to date, the following is offered for the rejuvenation of dead brain cells of the Mr. Public family.

Initiative, Referendum and Recall (IR&R):  Your right to redress government, to propose and enact Laws, independent of Legislative influence.  Over half of the States have some form of this right...where was Mr. Public when the Legislature decided they knew what was best for you.?
Recall....After all, we put politicians IN office..Why can't we take them OUT..? Quite frankly,
they are public servants, NOT public officials.  If, Mr. Public, you had IR&R,  you could fix
what government won't.

Taxation:  Are you paying your "fair share"? taxes on property, personal property, food, clothes, medicine, cars, gasoline, entertainment, alcohol, tobacco, travel and lodging, electric power, telephone, savings in the bank,  etc,etc.....etc....  which doesn't include the next item...

Income tax:  For every $1.00 business and corporations pay to the SC Revenue Dept. you,
Mr. Public pay $9.73. (1998 SC CAFR)  and the ratios are worse on Federal Income Tax..
And on this point even this writer is confused... corporations are basically untaxed, so why are
they all closing shop and moving to Mexico or third world countries.....????? the State and Counties increase taxes to pay for the Infrastructure(water, sewage, roads, and even in some cases the property) where business will locate. Then the county allows/bids the "fee in lieu of"
taxes to the business,  passing along the deficit spending to the individual property owner in the form of "Bond".

Education:  All that can be said on this issue is " the finest school building with the most advanced technology taught by teachers making twice the national salary average is not going to increase the chil'rens intellect one point until the parents take the responsibility to snatch a knot in their brats rears and make them aware of why children go to school."  Money and Government Bureaucracy is not going to solve the educational social club problems, in fact, they ARE the problem.

What is the cure...who knows, but if Boilin Ed were a medical doctor, he would prescribe frontal lobotomy micro-surgery and a vasectomy of the tongue for all politicians.
