More Government Help We Don't Need!
It is Another Rip-Off!
There Goes Your TV Set!
August 10, 2007
Hello, Folks;
The wonderful apparition that characterizes itself as "Your Government" is preparing another massive rip-off of the American people which will enrich the already wealthy TV media and accessory industry.
It was announced that on February 18, 2009, all analog television transmissions will cease, and only digital transmissions will be allowed.
What this means is that anyone owning an analog TV set, and that is still the vast majority of Americans, will simply find their set obsolete and unable to resolve the signal into a readable/seeable picture.
WOW! What a concept! With the stroke of a pen, and a wave of a wand, your TV is junk...that is unless you invest in an expensive converter box (bought from those who make them and were instrumental in lobbying for this bill) to set on top of your TV so you can use it. The alternative is to toss it out as junk and buy a newer and more expensive digital set.
Who gave a thought to what the country is going to do with the millions of old sets which are hazardous waste, don't degrade over time, contain heavy metals, and take up a lot of cubic feet in landfills...if you want that kind of stuff in a landfill, which I don't.
Those of us who are older and on fixed incomes will be especially hurt due to the high costs associated with either option. They are screwed to the wall, because they have no choice, and, for that matter neither do you.
This is especially outrageous since the FCC plans on re-selling the analog frequencies freed up by the move to commercial broadcasters for billions of dollars. It is safe to say that what ever the commercial broadcasters pay for the new service frequencies, they will simply charge the customer, thereby raising even more, your cost for the service, if you want to see anything.
There is no rational reason for the FCC to do this. It is just another big government scam to separate you from your money, enrich the special interests that contribute to politicians' election funds, lobby the FCC Commissioners with expensive junkets, golf, etc., so they will do what the electronic manufacturers want and you end up paying the bill.
Time to tell the FCC Commissioners "We are tired and you are fired!" along with which ever Congressional lackey supported this deliberate rip-off of the people.
Join The No Vote Party today, and help put a stop to this nonsense.
