Are We All Insane?

As reported by Rep. Ron Paul in this issue's Tyranny's Victims section (Page 7), the Bush Administration has just received a report put out by The New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, a commission appointed by President Bush to direct him on methods to improve the U.S. mental health system. The report contains shocking recommendations. If implemented, such policy would represent a massive assault on our liberties by government through psychiatrists and the pharmaceutical industry by encouraging the psychiatric drugging of millions of Americans for spurious mental disorders, which have no scientific or medical validity. Here are just a few of the details from this report.

  • The Commission based its entire findings on the definition of mental illness as defined by psychiatry's "billing bible," the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). The DSM is simply a tool used by Psychiatrists to help determine billing to patients and so it contains hundreds of undefined psychiatric mental "disorders" which are little more than a list of behavioral symptoms that are included without scientific study or verification.
  • Some of these "disorders" include: Cafeine-related disorder; Mathematics Disorder; Disorder of Written Expression; and the all-encompassing Phase of Life problem.
  • The New Freedom Commission is blatantly promoting the coercive and manipulative tactics that have led to millions of children being falsely labeled with mental disorder in public schools. Schools have become mental health clinics where children are diagnosed based on subjective questionnaires, instead of given proven educational solutions. This fact was substantiated by a report from the President's Commission on Excellence I Special Education, which found that 2.4 million children had been diagnosed with mental "disorders" and placed in Special Education, when in fact these children simply had not been taught to read.
  • Due to psychiatric influence, parents have been reported to Child Protective Services and charged with medical neglect for refusing to give their child a psychiatric drug such as those currently under investigation for causing suicidal reactions. Parents have been charged with "medical neglect" for refusing psychiatric treatment - despite the fact that there is no scientific proof that there is anything wrong with the child.
  • Despite a nearly 500% increase in American children being prescribed mental health drugs during the past 6 years, the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health found that not enough adolescents are benefiting from mental health treatment.
  • The New Freedom Commission recommendations prominently all for mandatory mental health screening for "all high school students," with follow-up treatment" as required--this means more kids on mind-altering and potentially lethal psychiatric drugs.
  • The vested interested of the President's New Freedom Commission in forwarding the mental health industry agenda is apparent. It increases the psychiatric industry's reach into society and supports a multi billion dollar mental health industry.

ATG: A letter from Rep. Joe Wilson informed me that H.R. 5006, the "Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Appropriations bill for FY2005 (which included the above information) passed the House by a vote of 388 - 13 September 9, 2004 and now awaits further action in the Senate. [The legislation was introduced September 7, 2004 by Rep. Ralph Regula (OH-16) and passed two days later.]
It is my stated opinion that the ONLY ones needing mental health screening WITH follow-up treatment are members of Congress and most likely the Senate. How much money has exchanged hands during this reelection period between the pharmaceutical industry and members of Congress? This is more of the blatant "child abuse" foisted on the American public through the failed educational system - continued by the present federal and state administrations. The feigned "concern" for the growing number of suicides among children/teens is nothing more than the sham bs coming from DC. the almighty dollar means more than true "concern". And, since adults are to be considered for screening also, it can only mean anyone speaking out against federal control will be considered to have a mental disorder.
